About W.O.C.

Welcome to West of Crazy!

The title is a symbolic reference representing any location on Earth. It is meant to convey the path one must take as you travel through life. If one chooses to believe in a mythical Paradise, and if one wishes to reach Paradise, one must first travel through the crazy that life is. Thus, you can say, (given traveling directions), Paradise is West of Crazy. If on your travels through life you happened to stop by W.O.C. – Cheers!

Let me tell you what’s inside….

With humbling self-analysis and a vivid imagination, I put together a collection of insightful stories, witty sketches & random thoughts related to a vast genre of life’s topics. I also invite writers outside of the United States to contribute material and offer unique perspectives.

Think of W.O.C. as a private library where one can enter and chill – leaving behind the crazy that swirls around outside… even if just for a little bit. There is going to be much to explore, as well as choose from.

W.O.C. is purposely designed to have a broad scope of topics. For example, “Old School” (on the menu bar) is where one can go if they wish to find suggestions on anything – from travel destinations, to art.

W.O.C. stories will be serious in tone when dealing with serious or sad occurrences. However, most W.O.C. stories will be written and told from a satirical point of view when showcasing the absurdity of life; which for all intents and purposes is quite nuts.

It’s as if through pain and suffering we are somehow meant to find our way… or lose it. Now, is that God’s intent, or is it God faltering? We don’t really know, but things just don’t seem to add up. Life is one giant Gordian Knot of contradictions with greatness and horror clamoring for dominance. There is a tremendous internal/external struggle within the soul of our existence.

Here in West of Crazy, I explore these contradictions by offering imaginative storytelling and commentary in my own unique way. I also voice out the truth of my own life struggles within a world seemingly going madder by the day. The mantra crazy is normal is just as true today, as it was 10,000 years ago. The world is a breeding ground for insanity. It has been from Day One.

Although you’ll find no answers here, maybe, just maybe, you’ll find something to connect with which will allow you to escape the crazy that life is… even if for just a little bit.

Good reading 😊

Age of Discretion: West of Crazy is intended and mainly suitable for individuals ages 17 and above. Some of the content on this website is not age-appropriate for children and/or teens. In creating this website my intent is to be socially conscious. However, in the process of writing or telling stories, I often write from a perspective of realism that is related to serious life topics, and thus, for example, I will use curse words in dialogue or to express a point.

Names, characters, businesses, places, events, locales, and incidents are  the products of the author’s imagination and/or for storytelling use. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental or used in a fictitious manner.

Global Perspectives: In creating this section, my intent is to add a more direct, and/or positive perspective on the world outside the American P.O.V. In doing so, I invite creative minds from countries around the globe to share stories, poetry, or art. The contributions offered and subsequent English translations are not written by W.O.C. They are submitted by the authors/artists with written assurances which validates that both stories and photos are authentic and follow international copyright laws.

God-References: This is not a theological website. However, in attempting to rationalize so much strangeness and suffering in the world, I often write imaginary stories depicting the physical presence of God, directly or indirectly. I don’t make fun of God, yours or mine. I make fun of myself in relation to God, or I make connections to God in relation to the mystery God is, within a complex ecosystem. When I do reference God in discussion or storytelling, I am not referencing your God. I reference my understanding and struggles with faith that I have experienced in my life. Per my knowledge, or lack of, it is conceivable that God could have both masculine and feminine characteristics. I don’t know. However, in order to be consistent, I will refer to the Great Creator as “He/Him”. If you don’t believe in God, that’s fine too – as long as you are a loving, humane soul who cares for others. I don’t judge one way or another. You’ll find plenty of entertainment and education here regardless of your faith. Good reading 😊
