One of the best-kept secrets to most Americans living outside of New Jersey (and the surrounding areas), is the Jersey Shore, south of Atlantic City. I literally stumbled upon the Jersey Shore when taking a wrong turn. Instead of taking a left towards Atlantic City off of Rte 40, I took a right turn onto Ventnor Ave. heading South. It had never dawned on me up to that point, how beautiful the area was south of Atlantic City, nor how many of the property names from the board game “Monopoly” came from the Jersey Shore localities. For a good reason. It is some of the best beach property in America. From Ventnor, to Margate, to Ocean Beach, all the way down to Cape May - the Jersey Shore is one Norman Rockwell-esque oceantown setting after another. I became “woke” (so to speak), to a whole new charming summer vacation destination I never even knew existed prior to my wrong turn. If you have an opportunity to turn right, instead of left when entering Atlantic city, get on Ventnor Ave. and just keep on driving South. Chances are you will want to stay.
