Stories
The title pretty much says it all. Here, along with Real Talk is where you will find the Heart of W.O.C. If I have one talent in this world, it’s the ability to create stories that reflect an offbeat point of view which has been formulated by years of observation and good ol’ fashion growing pains. Stories, unlike Real Talk, is where I purposefully write to entertain through a vivid imagination, and plain common sense. Beyond the entertainment value of my storytelling, I seek to establish empathy, as well as educate people about things in life, the roots of which are often unfamiliar. Take for example the expression, “Bat-shit crazy.” How did that expression come to be? What does it actually mean? Within my storytelling, I often deviate from the main topic to provide insight on things, thus creating a small story within a larger story. My stories are real, imagined, or a combination of both.
WHAT’S NEW
Bad Days!
Back in the day, there was a T.V. series called “The Incredible Hulk”, starring Bill Baxter and Lou Ferrigno. I loved the opening of this show (and yes I am revealing my age), because it perfectly represented the hidden rage in man that can come out at any time. In this case, the mild-mannered scientist (Bill Baxter) was caught in a downpour while struggling to change a flat tire.
Man Eating
When people hear the word “eating”, the image of civility is usually the first to be conjured up. However, eating is actually broken into categories. The first category is what I refer to as habit eating. It is the daily regimen of eating up to 2000 calories of food per day, as established by the original design. It contains two sub-categories; informal and formal habit eating.
Lazarus – Part I
Take this as you will, but straight up, I don’t care what your faith in God is, or isn’t, as long as you, and your faith, are of the humane variety. Personally speaking, I find deep virtue in the life of Jesus Christ.
Lazarus – Part II
– It’s the year 33 A.D. Living conditions are pretty shitty at best. No dentistry, no plumbing, no toilet paper. Hemorrhoids gone mad from riding a burro 20 miles to the nearest town, etc. A world with severe mass suffering, not unlike some parts today.
Don’t be an A**hole
One lazy Sunday morning, I was driving to East Potomac Golf course in Washington D.C., looking forward to a relaxing day playing golf with my brothers. I was semi-content, my thoughts at ease, when I came upon a bicyclist riding in the middle of the road. There are lots of bike riders in that particular area because the golf course is surrounded by a popular park.
